Mobile Apps

iOS and Android, one codebase. React Native apps with a native feel — offline-first data so they work on the Underground, push notifications that land, biometric auth, and a clean route to the App Store and Google Play.

What you get

Apps that feel native, cost less

Four things we deliver on every mobile engagement.

  • Cross-platform, one codebase

React Native ships iOS and Android from a single repo. One team, one roadmap, consistent UX on both stores.

  • Offline-first by default

Local data, background sync, and graceful reconnects. Your app works on the Tube, on a plane, or on dodgy rural 3G.

  • Push & deep links

Firebase Cloud Messaging for push, universal and app links for deep routing. Notifications that actually open the right screen.

  • Biometric auth & security

Face ID, Touch ID, secure keychain storage, certificate pinning, and encrypted local data. Security fit for banking-grade apps.

Who this is for

Use cases

  • Products that need both iOS and Android without double the budget
  • Retail and field-service teams who need an app that works offline
  • Startups building their first consumer or B2B mobile product
  • Companies adding a mobile companion app to an existing web platform
  • Teams who need App Store and Play Store submission handled end-to-end
  • Products requiring biometric auth or push notifications from day one

How we work

Our process

Four phases. Real devices from day one. Weekly TestFlight and Play Store drops throughout.

  1. Discovery

Workshop the core user journeys, pick the right stack (React Native vs native), and write it up as a clear spec.

  2. Design

iOS and Android mockups that respect each platform's conventions. Interactive prototypes you can tap through on a real phone.

  3. Build

iOS and Android built in parallel, weekly TestFlight and internal Play Store drops, store submission included.

  4. Launch

App Store and Play Store rollout, analytics wired up, crash reporting live. 30-day window where fixes are free.

Proof of work

Real projects, real code

We're building our own product in the open. Here's what that looks like.

BB Store Management — Mobile

A companion mobile app for our retail platform. Scan stock on the shop floor, approve reorders from your pocket, and get push alerts when lines run low. Built in React Native alongside the web app.

Before you ask

Frequently asked questions

React Native or fully native — which should we pick?

React Native covers 90% of apps at roughly 60% of the cost because you ship iOS and Android from one codebase. We reach for fully native Swift or Kotlin when the app leans heavily on AR, complex camera pipelines, or tight hardware integration. We’ll give you a straight answer in discovery, not a vendor pitch.

How does App Store and Play Store submission work?

We handle the entire submission process: developer account setup, store listings, screenshots, metadata, privacy labels, and review responses. You own the developer accounts — we just have submit rights while we’re building. First submission can take 1–7 days for Apple, usually under 24 hours for Google.

Do you test on real devices, or just simulators?

Real devices. We keep a rotation covering the last three iOS generations and a spread of Android phones (Samsung, Pixel, mid-range). Simulators miss keyboard, camera, biometric, and push notification bugs — so we only use them for day-to-day development, never for sign-off.

How are push notifications set up end-to-end?

We wire Firebase Cloud Messaging on both platforms, register device tokens against your user accounts, and build a small admin surface so your team can trigger notifications without a developer. Deep links route taps to the right screen, and we instrument delivery so you can see what actually landed.

What does maintenance cost after launch?

Mobile carries a real ongoing cost — iOS and Android release yearly, libraries move, and the stores change policies. Budget roughly 15–20% of build cost per year to stay current. You can take that in-house, put us on a retainer, or pay per update — whichever suits how active the app is.
